Residential pool resurfacing
Rough steps, worn finishes and loose material deserve a close inspection. We assess the existing surface and discuss the texture, color and maintenance you want. Tile, coping and structural repairs are identified separately when they fall outside the new interior finish.
Pool size and resurfacing scope
Measure the finished interior, including walls, steps and benches. A 12-by-24-foot water footprint does not equal the area to be coated. Freeform pools, attached spas and deeper sections can require more preparation and material than their overhead dimensions suggest.

Pool finish options and service-life planning
Plaster offers a smooth traditional appearance; quartz and pebble blends offer different textures and colors. Tile, fiberglass coatings and paint require a compatible substrate and their own preparation. Match the system to the existing shell, preferred feel and care plan rather than a universal lifespan claim.
Pool resurfacing costs by material
The table below gives finish-only planning allowances for a measured 600-square-foot interior. Whole-project pricing also depends on removal, preparation and repairs. These figures are regional benchmarks, rather than a site inspection or a commercial-pool quotation.
| Material | Per sq. ft. | Estimated finish total |
|---|---|---|
| Plaster / marcite | $4.50–$7.50 | $2,700–$4,500 |
| Quartz | $6.50–$10 | $3,900–$6,000 |
| Pebble / aggregate | $10–$25 | $6,000–$15,000 |
| Compatible fiberglass refinish | $9–$15 | $5,400–$9,000 |
| Tile or specialty coating | Quoted after assessment | Depends on system and scope |
Interior area includes the walls. Removal, preparation, repairs, water, tile, coping and startup can add to these finish-only figures. Tile, paint and specialty systems need a substrate-specific quote.
Surface preparation and underlying repairs
The new finish needs a sound base. We identify loose material, hollow areas, rough transitions and damaged fittings before application. A persistent leak or a moving crack needs its own investigation; resurfacing alone does not establish that the underlying problem is resolved.
Draining, filling and site conditions
Cape Coral canal-side properties make access and water handling part of the job plan. A professional assesses groundwater, shell conditions and an appropriate discharge route before any drain-down. Pool water is not released into a canal by default, and an empty shell is not left unattended as a routine shortcut.
Application schedule, startup and aftercare
Preparation, finish application and startup are separate stages. The chosen product and site conditions determine the schedule. We explain filling, brushing, chemistry checks and the conditions for swimming again; finishing the application does not mean the pool is ready for use that day.
Commercial pool resurfacing
Shared-pool work requires a closure plan with the operator. Cape Coral distinguishes resurfacing-only commercial work from broader renovation, while Lee County health review remains relevant. Confirm the current scope with both authorities before scheduling, including any required notice and reopening steps.
Compare resurfacing quotes
Ask for the exact finish name and the measured interior area. Compare removal, preparation, fittings, underlying repairs and startup inclusions. Keep deck work, tile, coping, water, permits and equipment changes visible as separate items when they are not included.
